DAMA International has begun work on the third edition of the Data Management Body of Knowledge. This session previews DMBoK v3’s direction: integrating AI-driven practices, the surge of unstructured data, modern Data Governance approaches, the rising importance of data architecture, and new regulations. We’ll share how a global editorial team is building a more practical, role-oriented guide focused on real implementation challenges, the timeline toward a planned Q2 2027 release, and how practitioners can get involved as authors, reviewers, or advisors via damadmbok.org.

AI and machine learning bring forward both great opportunity and great risk. We have algorithms increasingly making decisions. Industry uses algorithms to increase efficiency and save money. In many cases this is great but what about ethics? When do we want humans to intervene? This talk will cover how models, frameworks, and breaches have infringed on our privacy. The talk will close with ideas of how we move forward in a positive way.

Director of Data Quality Management Department at BEST S.A.

Find out how Best S.A. builds trust in data and significantly improves operational processes by implementing an integrated approach to Data Quality and Data Governance based on the Ataccama platform.
During the presentation, you will learn about specific actions that have enabled:
• Monitoring and improving data quality using dimensions such as completeness, consistency and correctness
• Building a transparent data origin map and a consistent glossary of terms, which facilitates cooperation between IT and business
• Automate data profiling, anomaly identification, and data cleansing rule suggestions
• Achieve specific results – reduce data incident response time and increase operational efficiency
• Create a self-service environment for business users, which reduced the need for manual actions and increased trust in data.

We will explain what a data-driven city is and why its foundation is based on a well-organized data structure. We will demonstrate how consistent and reliable data support decision-making in local governments. We will present the role of the DAMA Poland Chapter in sharing knowledge, experience, and best practices in the field of data management. Our goal is to inspire local governments to develop data strategies that will serve as the foundation for modern and responsible city management.

People as social creatures need to communicate to develop each other well. If you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far, go together. Data is a Team Sport, hence we need to embrace the way we work as a society to achieve great things. In this lecture I would like to dive into how we can work smoothly in a motivated fashion by having a right socio-technical architecture setup in place, which supports us in what we do and how we do.

An IT project is a very fragile organism—easily killed by: – Design goals pushed to the extreme, – Technology or solution architecture that doesn’t fit the problem, – Ignoring data quality in the hope that things will somehow work out, – A hit-and-run implementation: “It’s in production, let someone else worry about the rest.” This presentation will explore projects that failed too early—and how their demise could have been prevented.

Konrad Hoszowski

Technical Account Manager at Ab Initio

The presentation will include two demo scenarios showing how the Ab Initio platform, supported by the Abi conversational assistant, enables organisations to efficiently create data products and consistently manage metadata in a complex multi-cloud environment. The first scenario will show the integration of metadata from Dataplex (GCP) and PureView (Azure), automatic synchronisation of business terms from native catalogues, and the propagation of sensitivity policies and quality attributes across clouds. The second scenario will show the process of self-service data product building by an analyst – from selecting sources, adding fields and aggregates from the calculation library, to iterative modifications of the data set – with automatic code generation and processing optimisation. The whole process shows how the combination of AI, automation and multi-cloud integration reduces the time to deliver business value while ensuring regulatory compliance and high data quality.

People are emotional, irrational and unpredictable – and yet they are the most important aspect of any data strategy. Tiankai introduces his framework of the 5 Cs – competence, collaboration, communication, creativity and conscience – with actionable examples to help you put the human being really at the center of your data efforts, and to turn your team members and employees into active advocates for your data strategy.

In this session, I’ll walk you through our real-world journey of implementing data lineage in a modern Microsoft Azure environment, combining Data Factory, Databricks, Power BI, and Purview—enhanced with custom API integrations. We’ll explore not just the technical architecture, but also the organizational and cultural shifts required to make lineage meaningful and sustainable. You’ll see how we mapped data flows to business processes and organizational structures, enabling full-context visibility across systems.
What might interest you:
  • How we automated lineage capture across Azure tools
  • Lessons learned from aligning IT and business stakeholders
  • How we used Purview’s native features and APIs to enrich metadata The impact on data governance, compliance, and decision-making.

Whether you’re a data leader, architect, or business stakeholder, this talk will offer practical insights into building a lineage-aware, information-driven organization.

During the presentation, we will explain how, thanks to the implementation of a central catalogue:

– We have improved trust in operational data by clearly defining data owners and responsibilities, using consistent terminolgy and introducing a single source of data
– We have reduced the time needed to find and interpret data by tracking its origin and providing clear definitions
– We have raised the standard of data security and compliance by using automatic classification.

Data Catalog is one of those buzzwords nowadays. But what this is really all about? We will start with answering a question what the Data Catalog is (and what it is not), followed by the discussion why do you need one. Then we will dive into the ways how to start developing it, making sure its adoption will not be a failure. We will end up with some real life (good and not so good) examples of Data Catalog implementation.

The new wave of AI Agents demands more than raw data — they need governed, contextualized, and lineage-aware foundations. Dawiso goes beyond traditional catalogs by capturing enterprise knowledge and shaping it into a semantic layer that gives data meaning. Learn how Ilum builds on this foundation and turns governance into action by automating pipelines, enforcing lineage, and enabling resilient data operations. Together, they create the backbone for AI Agents that can reason, act, and adapt.

Can you imagine a world where your data describes, catalogues and repairs itself? In this interactive session, we will show you how Large Language Models are transforming the daily work of data professionals.
During this session full of live demos, you will see:

🔍 Automatic cataloguing – how AI creates descriptions of data resources

🎯 Intelligent quality control – anomaly detection and synthetic data generation
🧠 Semantic discovery – searching for data in natural language without SQL

This is not theory – these are concrete tools that you can implement tomorrow. Get ready for a session that will change your approach to data management and show you the future, or rather the present, of this field.

The presentation explores practical approaches to SQL-based data quality management, focusing on the benefits of defining validation rules at the SQL level for greater transparency, flexibility, and control. While technical in nature, we will also explore how to enable business users to engage with data quality processes, bridging the gap between data teams and domain experts.

A brief preview of early, high-level insights from DAMA Poland’s nationwide maturity survey. We’ll share initial patterns and announce the timeline and format for the final results release.
